First unemployment deposit is late, what should I check? - what worked for you?

I applied for unemployment in Fresno 26 weeks ago and the status page still says pending. This is my first time dealing with any of this. The page shows my claim as open but no payment date.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 8 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
