First unemployment deposit is late, what should I check? - any advice?

I applied for unemployment in Richmond 17 weeks ago and the status page still says pending. I am in Richmond, in case local advice matters. The page shows my claim as open but no payment date. What would you check first?

Check the messages section of your claim, not just the dashboard. That is where my request for more information was hiding.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
