Does severance delay my unemployment claim? (update)

I signed a severance agreement and I am worried about how to report it. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have a mortgage and need to plan. How did your state treat it?

Rules differ by state. I called the claims line and asked directly, then wrote down the answer and the date.

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.
