Does severance delay my unemployment claim? (update)

I was offered severance of 5 weeks after being let go as a forklift operator and I am unsure how it affects benefits. I am in Austin, in case local advice matters. I have a mortgage and need to plan. Did you file straight away?

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
