Does severance delay my unemployment claim? - first time posting

I was offered severance of 8 weeks after being let go as a procurement assistant and I am unsure how it affects benefits. I am in San Diego, in case local advice matters. The agreement mentions a release and a payment schedule. Did you file straight away?

I filed on day one anyway and reported the severance honestly. The agency decided what to do about the timing.
