Does severance delay my unemployment claim?, call-centre agent here

I was offered severance of 18 weeks after being let go as a call-centre agent and I am unsure how it affects benefits. Any experience at all would help. I have a mortgage and need to plan. How did your state treat it?

Some states only count certain kinds of severance. A local workforce centre could tell me which.
