COBRA costs more than my rent, what did you do? after 17 years as a retail manager

I was offered COBRA and the monthly cost is more than I expected as a retail manager. I am in Tucson, in case local advice matters. I saw that marketplace plans might cost less. Did anyone switch mid-year?
