Applying for food benefits after losing my job - what worked for you?

I lost my job as a line cook and my household is applying for SNAP for the first time. It has been a long 16 weeks. I have a final pay stub, a termination letter and my unemployment approval. Did they ask for anything unexpected?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
