Applying for food benefits after losing my job (Birmingham)

I lost my job as an electrician's helper and my household is applying for SNAP for the first time. I am in Birmingham, in case local advice matters. There are 6 people in my household. Is there an expedited option for people with very little income?

Take photos of everything you send and write down the date. I had to resend one page and the record helped.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
