Applying for food benefits after losing my job - any advice?

I got a notice asking for proof of income and I am unsure what to send. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The caseworker asked for bank statements too. Did they ask for anything unexpected?

Take photos of everything you send and write down the date. I had to resend one page and the record helped.
