Applying for food benefits after losing my job - any advice?

I lost my job as an operations analyst and my household is applying for SNAP for the first time. Any experience at all would help. The caseworker asked for bank statements too. What did you submit and how long did approval take?

Take photos of everything you send and write down the date. I had to resend one page and the record helped.
