Applying for food benefits after losing my job

I lost my job as an accountant and my household is applying for SNAP for the first time. I am in San Diego, in case local advice matters. The caseworker asked for bank statements too. Is there an expedited option for people with very little income?

Ask about expedited service. I was told it depends on how little cash and income you have right now.
