Applying for food benefits after losing my job - 5 months and counting

I lost my job as a recruiter and my household is applying for SNAP for the first time. There are 8 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have a final pay stub, a termination letter and my unemployment approval. What did you submit and how long did approval take?

Take photos of everything you send and write down the date. I had to resend one page and the record helped.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
