Applying for food benefits after losing my job

My SNAP recertification is coming up and my income changed a lot since my layoff. I am in Sacramento, in case local advice matters. The caseworker asked for bank statements too. Is there an expedited option for people with very little income?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

I sent my last two pay stubs, the separation letter and a bank statement. I heard back in about 9 weeks, and my county offered an interview by phone.
